Engage is a national network of Christian organisations working to make singleness or marriage a genuine choice for all Christian women and men.

Church Audit

What is the Relationally Healthy Church Audit?

A practical audit and action process, enabling local churches to be statistically gender balanced and support healthy singleness, dating, marriage and youth.

Did You Know?

Things are changing, but overall, there are 2 men to every 3 women in the church, and mostly 1:2 for single people.

Many single people feel isolated in church, and many in relationships are seeking support.

Implications for Christians

  • For Men: There is a massive need for more effective evangelism, discipleship and ways of doing church.
  • For Women: If they want to marry a Christian man, this isn’t possible for huge numbers, who are faced with a decision – stay single and childless, or marry a non-Christian?
  • For Children: Spiritual fatherlessness is common, and only 16% of today’s church’s grandchildren will have a Christian father and mother if current trends continue.
  • For Everyone: Churches need to address, in a balanced way, the challenges faced by adults who are single dating, married and parenting, while also helping young people thrive in their lives and relationships.

Engage organisations work together to ‘join the dots’ between different ministry fields, identify the issues affecting the church, and facilitate solutions.

Engage’s Vision

To make singleness or marriage a genuine choice for all Christian women and men, through a church which is gender-balanced and teaches about healthy Christian singleness, dating and marriage.
